Ethics

We believe that our public representatives, once they take the oath of office,
are engaged in an important public service.

Service on the City Council is an honor and a privilege and should not be deemed as a period of time spent learning the ins and outs of what it takes to be a highly paid developers lobbyist.

Simply, City service should not be considered as a process to obtain a graduate degree for future lobbying.

Sadly, we are presently deluged with ex-mayors now employed as lobbyists exploiting their unique access to City Hall to the detriment of the residents who initially elected them.

Therefore, to correct what, in our judgment, is an abusive practice, we propose an ethics ordinance that bars, for a period of four years, all ex Council members, Planning Commissioners and their family members from representing clients before the City Council, Staff or Planning Commission.
