Town Hall
Meeting: Debate/Discussion
Monday, October
20th, 7:00 pm
Beverly Hills
Hotel – Sunset Room
You are invited to attend our Town Hall Meeting set
for Monday evening, October 20, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sunset Room at
the Beverly Hills Hotel.
We are committed to maintaining and enhancing our
quality of life. Our newsletters, regarding the mega Hilton expansion,
have been designed to inform our fellow residents of this massive
commercial development that, in our view, threatens substantially our
way of life.
We do not believe that the three councilmembers who
voted to approve this enormous Hilton expansion project have been vested
with the authority to alter adversely in perpetuity the nature,
character and well-being of our “village/city” community.
Remember, two councilmembers, Mayor Barry Brucker
and Nancy Krasne, including all five Planning Commissioners, voted NO
regarding this mega Hilton expansion.
Our Town Hall Meetings have been designed to
stimulate informed public discussions. We believe that a vigorous, open,
democratic marketplace of ideas is best served, particularly in this
instance, with a civil debate/discussion.
This public forum is not intended to be a “gotcha
debate” event with an audience “packed” by partisans heckling the
opposition speaker. We intend to conduct a civil informative discussion
where both sides of the issue will be represented and with the public in
attendance participating, as well. Our residents have a long proud
tradition of conducting these public forums in a dignified and honorable
manner. We expect no less on October 20, 2008.
